Chelsea's owners agreed in buying Strasbourg

BlueCo, who acquired Chelsea last summer, will take over as the club's new owners, according to a statement from Strasbourg.

A run of eight points from their final five games has helped the French team narrowly avoid dropping to Ligue 2 and avoid relegation.

Due to the fact that Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital were looking for a new club, there was more pressure to reach an agreement for Strasbourg.

Although it initially seemed as though Boehly and Clearlake would be content with a lower ownership position in the team, it has been widely reported that they currently control "close to" a full share of Le Racing.

According to The Guardian, Chelsea is paying around £65 million to acquire the Eastern French team. This may not be the only trade they make in the ensuing years.

BlueCo said in a statement that it was an honour to be a part of this illustrious group. Our goal is to work closely with Marc (Keller, president) and his management group to build on the fantastic job they have been doing in order to preserve the history of racing.

"This strategic investment, together with our ownership of Chelsea, would strengthen our position in European football. We think there would be lots of chances to share knowledge and skills.

Chelsea will theoretically be in a position where they may send academy and squad players to improve their development, and Marc Keller will continue in his role as president.

Thus, Troyes and Girona would be a part of the 12-club "City Football Group," following the Manchester City model.
