According to Fabrizio Romano, Moises Caicedo only spoke with Chelsea about a deal.

Chelsea is the lone team in transfer negotiations with Brighton & Hove Albion player Moises Caicedo, claims renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.

The London juggernauts are committed to adding a defensive midfielder this summer, and Caicedo is the player they are currently focusing on.

Romano, in an interview with Caught Offside, disclosed that Chelsea will negotiate a deal for the Ecuadorian after their selling binge.

No need to panic, he said, as the 21-year-old is still in the early stages of negotiations with Chelsea.

He stated: "Chelsea will start working on the [Moises] Caicedo deal once everything [with outgoings] settles down. The earlier updates remain unchanged. Chelsea will make an effort to sign Caicedo because they want him.

"I can't forecast the future, but at this point the player is solely in talks with Chelsea. Right now, the Brighton player is in a relaxed state. No need to be alarmed.

Caicedo, a star player, is still developing his career but has already made a name for himself as one of the most in-demand midfielders. He has thrived thanks to his excellent work ethic, hard tackling, and duel-winning skills.

When compared to N'Golo Kante, who only recently left Chelsea on a free transfer, his playing style is extremely recognisable. The Ecuadorian has all the qualities to replace the Blues' holding midfielder in a like-for-like fashion.

Chelsea has not yet entered into talks with Brighton about a transfer, but they are sure to increase their interest once the current outgoings are settled. According to rumours, Caicedo might be yours for just £80 million.

With Arsenal prioritising the high-profile transfer of Declan Rice from West Ham and Manchester United operating on a tight budget, the London heavyweights currently have a free hand to recruit the South American star.

Chelsea must take proactive measures to prevent a bidding battle for the player as the situation may alter soon.
