Sjoeke Nusken is officially a Chelsea player.
Sjoeke Nusken, a midfielder for Germany's Eintracht Frankfurt, has officially joined Chelsea.
With a three-year contract that would keep her at Chelsea through 2026, the 22-year-old will formally join the team on July 1.
To transfer to the Women's Super League, Nusken said: "I wanted to do it because it's a good league, playing in English football is incredibly cool, and it's the correct thing to do right now. Being at Chelsea makes me very happy and eager, and I am anticipating the upcoming season.
With such talented players, it's a massive club. My football abilities could use some work. Meeting my new team members makes me very happy because I can learn a lot from them.
Since playing for Germany's senior team against Belgium in February 2021, Nusken has received 15 international caps.
She is primarily a central midfielder but can play center back as well.
Nusken formerly spent her whole senior career with Eintracht Frankfurt after advancing through the youth programs of FSV Gutersloh 2009 and Westfalia Rhynern.
Sjoeke is a wonderful young midfield player, said Chelsea manager Emma Hayes. "Her ability to play the ball deep into the opponents' half is not her only distinguishing quality, there are everything from her interceptions, her reading of the game, and her overall presence.
She will be an excellent addition for this club because she is dynamic and skilled in the air.
Paul Green, general manager of Chelsea, stated: "We're thrilled to have finished the signing of Sjoeke as a player we've been monitoring for the last few seasons. She is in a terrific age and in our opinion is prepared to advance in her career.
She will be a great addition to the team, so we're quite excited. We all anticipate her joining the team because we think her style will match the English game incredibly well.
Chelsea, who is now ranked second in the Women's Super League, won the FA Cup on Sunday by a score of 1-0 over Manchester United. This is Chelsea's third consecutive season to win the trophy.
Wednesday's game against West Ham is Hayes' team's return to competition.
