Romelu Lukaku may stay as Chelsea considers a 12-man cut
Stunning sources claim that Chelsea is organising a massive summer purge and has decided on Romelu Lukaku.
For Mauricio Pochettino's debut season as the Stamford Bridge team's manager, the Blues are expected to undergo a significant revamp.
He was hired last month and agreed to a two-year contract with a one-year extension option.
He also seems to be in for a hectic transfer window, with sources indicating that the West London club is considering releasing 12 players.
In the last two transfer windows, Chelsea made a lot of acquisitions, most notably Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk.
The club will reportedly want to offload a number of players this summer in order to balance their books, according to The Daily Mail.
After having fruitful talks, Mateo Kovacic is nearly set to join treble-winners Manchester City.
Mason Mount is coveted by Manchester United, who are thought to be interested in hiring him before the 2023–24 season, while N'Golo Kante is close to moving to Saudi Arabia.
Conor Gallagher and Kai Havertz may potentially be viewed as unnecessary personnel. While Newcastle United is apparently keeping an eye on the England international, Real Madrid is reportedly keeping track of the German.
Not to mention the custodian Eduoard Mendy, the wings Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech.
The 12-man list is completed by Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Nathan Baxter, and Ian Maatsen.
According to the source, Lukaku will be informed by Chelsea that they are excited to have him join their team for the upcoming campaign.
But it's believed that he is anticipated to declare his desire to depart.
In 2021, Lukaku transferred back to Chelsea for £97.5 million. However, his attempt to rejoin the team has failed, as the Belgian forward is now on loan at Inter Milan.
