Following a message from Mauricio Pochettino, Christopher Nkunku finally speaks out about the Chelsea deal.
After signed a pre-contract deal last year in anticipation of a £52 million transfer to Stamford Bridge, Christopher Nkunku is expected to sign with Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
While travelling with France for international duty, Christopher Nkunku reacted to inquiries regarding his anticipated summer transfer to Chelsea. According to football.london, the Frenchman pre-signed a contract deal last year and is about to close a £52 million transfer to Stamford Bridge in time for the upcoming season.
The 25-year-old scored 16 goals in just 25 league games to win the Bundesliga Golden Boot title despite missing two months of the season due to injury. Following a season in which Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling combined for nine goals, the Blues are in urgent need of a striker.
The sports director of RB Leipzig, Max Eberl, recently told BILD that "the signs are very, very clear that he's moving to Chelsea." In his final game with the German team, Nkunku assisted Leipzig in winning the DFB-Pokal while also scoring a goal.
Wesley Fofana, a defender for Chelsea, was questioned about the coming of a fellow countryman before the summer transfer window opened. "If it happens, I'm happy," Fofana said in response.
"He has a lot of great attributes. To have him here with us would be pure delight.
Nkunku, though, was coy about his future and the summer transfer window as he said on international duty: "I am focused on gathering with Les Bleus. Everything that happens after, we will have time to think."
While on international service, Nkunku said: "I am focused on gathering with Les Bleus. I am not thinking about my future or the summer transfer window. After that, we will have time to reflect on everything.
