At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea is 'in the race' to recruit a £70 million star.
Chelsea is "really interested" in bringing in a star with the "full package."
Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano exclusively revealed to GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea are'really keen' in acquiring Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo.
After a standout season on the south coast, the teenage midfielder is already drawing interest from clubs around Europe.
Moises Caicedo, a transfer involving Chelsea
The Telegraph reports that Brighton are going to demand more than £70 million for Caicedo, the Ecuadorian midfielder who has been frequently linked with a move away from the club.
Caicedo is a key target for Chelsea this summer, but Liverpool are also interested in the 21-year-old, according to Italian writer Rudy Galetti, who recently spoke with GIVEMESPORT.
The acquisition of a top-tier midfielder might be seen as Chelsea's top priority given that N'Golo Kante's contract is up, Denis Zakaria is returning to Juventus after his loan, and the club needs reinforcements after a disappointing season.
It is not surprising to learn that Caicedo is a priority target for the west London team given the likelihood that Mateo Kovacic will leave the club as well.
It won't be simple to persuade Brighton to let Caicedo leave the team, which is why the £70 million price tag, especially after they lost Alexis MacAllister to Liverpool earlier in the month.
Earlier in the season, Adam Lallana said on Sky Sports that his Brighton teammate was "the full package."
Caicedo has stated that he would want to play for Real Madrid in the future when speaking about his future.
"I'm doing very well right now, so why not join Real Madrid someday and take home the Champions League?" he mused. It is my greatest dream.
How has Caicedo been described by Fabrizio Romano?
According to Romano, Chelsea is now actively vying for Caicedo's services and appears to be very interested in acquiring him.
In a statement to GIVEMESPORT, he added: "Also since Chelsea is also on Caicedo. Moises Caicedo is a player who Chelsea is pursuing with great interest.
Would Chelsea be wise to sign Caicedo?
For the reasons already discussed, they'll prioritise a midfielder in the summer transfer window in terms of their outgoings, and they'll find it difficult to find a player with greater promise than Caicedo.
During the 2022–2023 Premier League season, the 21-year-old's average Sofascore rating was 7.08, which is outstanding for a young midfielder still adjusting to his new country.
There is a significant potential that Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez will be able to finish in the top three in Europe if they can work together in the upcoming season.
