Chelsea defender to be sold by Mauricio Pochettino as Newcastle prepares a £30 million offer

According to sources, Mauricio Pochettino is set to transfer Marc Cucurella despite renewed interest from Newcastle United and has already made plans to cut his Chelsea team.

When Pochettino takes over at Stamford Bridge next month, he will inherit a roster that is overcrowded, as both Graham Potter and Frank Lampard, Chelsea's former managers, have voiced concerns about the number of players Chelsea had last season.

Pochettino will find it simpler to push Chelsea back up the table if he can sell some players who aren't being used, and the sale will also provide some much-needed cash after the club's incredible spending binge over the past year.

The American owners of Chelsea have spent about £600 million on new players and want to spend much more money this summer to bring players like Moises Caicedo and Nicolas Jackson to west London.

Pochettino is prepared to lose Cucurella, according to the Daily Mirror, and a number of players are anticipated to leave Stamford Bridge in order to make room for the newcomers.

When Chelsea paid more than £60 million for the Brighton left-back at this time last year, questions were raised. The deal appeared even more dubious after the Spaniard struggled last season.

Cucurella still has fans in the Premier League and is piqueing Newcastle's attention despite his standing at Stamford Bridge declining.

With a fourth-place finish and a Champions League berth for the next season, the Magpies had an outstanding 2022–23 season.

Eddie Howe wants to bring in a lot of new players, including a left-back who has been strongly connected with a move for Arsenal's Kieran Tierney.

Cucurella has become an additional choice, although Newcastle only wants to spend about £30m for the 24-year-old, who was purchased for twice as much a year ago.

At the conclusion of the campaign, Howe spoke on Newcastle's summer transfer ambitions, saying, "I hoped to do some things and I don't think making the Champions League changes the numbers."

Top-four status won't affect the number of signings because we'll need to assemble a team for the Champions League.

It won't be a lot of numbers and significant moves in, as I previously stated. Hopefully, the appropriate two or three players can help us improve.
