Since transferring to Stamford Bridge, Raheem Sterling has had a challenging season. Frank Lampard has supported the English star to succeed for Chelsea.

Since leaving Manchester City last summer, Sterling has only scored seven goals, and he hasn't found the back of the net in the Premier League since January 1.

In spite of his disappointing season, Sterling, who was reared in Harlesden, is still one of the top players in the nation, according to interim Blues manager Lampard.

"Raheem has had an incredible career, and I think I said recently that I have spent the last three years talking to younger wingers who I have worked with showing videos of him at the back post or defensively what he does," added Lampard.

"You cannot undo all that he has accomplished for Manchester City and England.

"Perhaps this season's form hasn't been terrific, but there are always elements that affect an individual's form.

If Raheem keeps working and everything around him falls into place, he will demonstrate what he has demonstrated in his profession. He is very honest with himself and has the credit in the bank.

"That is what we have at this club right now, a lot of stories and reasons within the squad that are understandable."
