Chelsea proposed a RIDICULOUS trade for a player worth €150 million.
They have a bloated squad and little room for maneuver this summer since they will be compelled to implement a one in, one out policy as a result of their erratic, chaotic, and ultimately utterly failed transfer transaction.
Having said that, this Chelsea team may have a very different look right now if AC Milan had agreed to a crazy swap deal idea last summer.
Ziyech and Pulisic for Leao
The Athletic claims that AC Milan turned down Chelsea's approaches for Rafael Leao last summer, despite the Blues' willingness to give Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic as trade bait.
Chelsea thought the two were each worth €100 million, but the Italian team wasn't having it. They were sure that their mercurial attacker would eventually sign a new contract and that he was worth at least €150 million.
Rafael is aware that staying with us is the best option if he wants to grow stronger than he is right now, according to Milan sports director Paolo Maldini, who previously acknowledged Chelsea's advances to ESPN. Officially, Chelsea did not receive a written offer, but informally, she did. Naturally, it was turned down.
The 23-year-old is still a target for other teams, including the Blues, but the €175 million release clause in his new deal will probably put off the majority of them, including Chelsea, who might run afoul of Financial Fair Play rules after this season's buying spree.
