Chelsea is in danger of "losing" the Mauricio Pochettino contract as Todd Boehly faces increasing pressure.

Todd Boehly, a co-owner of Chelsea, reportedly wants to seal Mauricio Pochettino's hiring.

The Argentine's future is allegedly up for grabs next week, thus Chelsea may yet lose out on hiring Mauricio Pochettino. Real Madrid reportedly still likes Pochettino despite rumours that Carlo Ancelotti may soon be fired from the Spanish powerhouse.

Real has had a difficult season under the Italian, failing to capitalise on their Champions League victory from the previous year. They might fire Ancelotti in the summer if they are in danger of losing the tournament by falling to Manchester City in the first leg of their semifinal matchup next Tuesday.

The La Liga team would then need to look for a new head coach. Pochettino would reportedly be the choice of President Florentino Perez.

Chelsea anticipates concluding a deal for the former Tottenham manager very soon. They might lose out to the 51-year-old, though, if Real decide to look for a new manager.

Pochettino is Perez's "top choice" if the Real position opens up, according to the Independent. According to the article, Chelsea are 'near' to hiring the former Paris Saint-Germain manager, although a deal has not yet been finalised.

After Graham Potter was fired by the Blues in the first week of April, a protracted search for a new head coach was initiated. Together with Luis Enrique and Julian Nagelsmann, Pochettino quickly became a favourite.

Todd Boehly, the co-owner, is claimed to have been "blown away" by how well Pochettino meets the job criteria. It is believed that his success at Spurs in moulding a number of young players into genuine title contenders is exactly what Chelsea needs.

The American will therefore hope that Pochettino's contract can be finalised as soon as possible. If not, Chelsea runs the risk of Real Madrid and other major European teams joining the new manager market at the end of the season.

In the month when Boehly marks a year since taking control of the West Londoners, he is already looking for his third permanent manager. Just one month into the season, Thomas Tuchel was fired, and Potter was viewed as a long-term successor.

However, the former Brighton manager's results rendered his position untenable. In mid-table with the Blues at the time, he was fired last month.

Since being hired as the temporary head coach, Frank Lampard has not fared much better. Since rejoining the team, the club legend has lost each of his first six games.

The Premier League's 12th-place team is Chelsea. The Lampard team will go to Bournemouth on Saturday.
