The arrival of Mauricio Pochettino will come "too late" to prevent contract discussions, according to The Sun, who also claim that Mason Mount is on his way out of Chelsea.
Mount's current contract at Stamford Bridge expires the next year, and a new one has not yet been reached.
The one-year extension was "flatly rejected," according to the Sun, because it was "seen as a ploy simply to raise his transfer fee."
The publication also claims that Mount is "set to leave," that ties between the club and his attorneys are "at an all-time low," and that Pochettino's hiring as manager won't likely improve anything.
It sounds like Mason has run out of time, according to a Blues source. Pochettino is competent, but he is hardly a magician.
"Perhaps it would be a different scenario if he had been hired when Chelsea fired Thomas Tuchel in September.
But 10 months have passed with no decision, and other clubs are interested in him. We wish Poch and Mason luck, but we have little faith in them.
