Candidate for management recently fired by Bundesliga club holds first official meeting with Chelsea
Candidate manager Julian Nagelsmann meets with Chelsea for the first time in official capacity.
The Times claims that Chelsea and one of the possibilities to take over at the Blues in the summer, Julian Nagelsmann, have had their first official meetings.

The other candidates include Luis Enrique, Mauricio Pochettino, Luciano Spaletti, the manager of Napoli, and Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting.

The selection of a permanent manager for Chelsea will be overseen in the coming weeks by co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.

It is all due to the Blues' decision to fire Graham Potter two weeks ago following a string of disappointing outcomes. In order to purchase time before the permanent hiring, Frank Lampard was employed on an interim basis.

Nagelsmann, the former manager of Bayern Munich, met with the Chelsea management on Thursday. There have also been calls with other applicants, but no names immediately come to mind right now. Winstanley and Stewart will then present them to co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali for a final choice.

In the event that just these two positions are available, Nagelsmann would prefer to accept the position with the Blues over the one with Tottenham Hotspur, but he has his eye on a prospective position with Real Madrid in the summer and Paris-Saint-Germain could be looking for a new manager at the end of this current campaign.

In order to expedite the process and engage the 35-year-old in prior discussions about what the post would entail at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea must be persuaded by him.

Furthermore, the team is floundering under Lampard, and losses are easy to come by. By announcing the new manager, the players may feel pressured to play better in order to demonstrate that they can contribute to the goals under the new management.

Let's hope the board is working towards finally making the correct decision after a tumultuous year filled with poor choices.
