Mason Mount and Manchester United agree on personal conditions, according to a report

Mason Mount and Manchester United have reportedly reached a personal agreement, and the transaction is now "expected" to move through, subject to Chelsea and United first reaching a formal agreement. However, that now seems to be less important than Mount reaching a contract agreement with any team after failing to do so with the Blues on an extension.

Even if Chelsea lacks significant negotiating power, the reported transfer cost should still be very sizable. However, the story makes no attempt to estimate it. With only one year remaining on his contract, Mount is obviously not interested in continuing.

In many ways, that stinks, to put it succinctly, but it is what it is, I suppose.

Mount and Frank Lampard appeared to be bidding each other farewell during their final lap of honour on the Stamford Bridge pitch. It had been a truly terrible season for both of them, individually and as a team.

A bloated and underperforming roster clearly need major changes from Chelsea, but not in this way.
