Nicolas Jackson has finished his physical before his rumoured transfer from Villarreal to Chelsea.

The 22-year-old forward's release clause is around €35 million (£30 million), and Chelsea has already agreed to pay it.

The Athletic reports that the international player from Senegal has successfully completed a medical, bringing the deal one step closer to conclusion.

Along with Christopher Nkunku and Malo Gusto, who were both acquired in January in agreements with RB Leipzig and Lyon, he will mark the beginning of the Mauricio Pochettino era.

Jackson, 22, scored 12 goals in 26 league games for Villarreal last year. In November of the same year, he made his international debut.

With Kai Havertz, the league's leading scorer last season, about to go with Arsenal, Chelsea has struggled up front in recent seasons.

Romelu Lukaku is eager to go on after his stint back in Italy last season, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also set to leave after scoring just three goals in 21 games.

Jackson's contract is finalised, but Chelsea may try to add other front-line players.

Pochettino's first aim is reportedly Inter star Lautaro Martinez, but the club has also finalised a deal for Jamaican teenager Dujuan Richards, who will join the team when he turns 18 in October.

Over the past year, Chelsea has spent more than £600 million on deals, and Pochettino is still looking to add players as he prepares to take over as manager next month.

The club's top aim is Brighton player Moises Caicedo, according to rumours that the Ecuadorian prefers a move to west London.

After failing to reach an agreement on a price with Chelsea for Mason Mount, Manchester United is also interested in signing the midfielder and is prepared to increase that interest.

Despite this, Chelsea has made Caicedo their priority goal to bolster their midfield after approving the departures of N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic.
