Plans are made by Mauricio Pochettino for the Brazilian wonderkid

Andrey Santos will reportedly return to Chelsea this summer in an effort to make Mauricio Pochettino's first team for the next campaign.

The 19-year-old joined the Blues in January from Vasco de Gama, but he was later loaned back to the team after being denied a work permit in England.

But Santos has now qualified for a work permit thanks to his performances for Brazil at the Under-20 World Cup in Argentina and his senior international debut, and insiders have told 90min that Chelsea plans to re-sign him this summer.

Santos was expected to return to Chelsea anyhow due to a recent modification in the requirements for obtaining a work permit, but the goal is not for him to return to Stamford Bridge purely for financial reasons.

Instead, the adolescent will get an opportunity to succeed under the direction of new head coach Mauricio Pochettino, who was appointed as Graham Potter's permanent replacement at the end of May.

After an excruciatingly dismal debut campaign under Todd Boehly's leadership of Clearlake Capital, Pochettino has been given the task of turning around Chelsea's fortunes. The Blues lost 16 of their 38 games, finished with a goal differential of minus nine, and were relegated to 12th place in the Premier League.
