An Important Summer Transfer Window in West London Will Begin with Christopher Nkunku
Chelsea's forthcoming transfer window is critically crucial given their terrible 2022–23 season.

After Todd Boehly took over the club in late May 2022, the Blues went on a summer transfer spree, acquiring players like Wesley Fofana and Marc Cucurella from Premier League rivals Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion, respectively.

Despite their extravagant spending, the Blues were unable to accomplish what Boehly had set out to do, and manager Thomas Tuchel was fired in early September. Graham Potter quickly took his place. Chelsea spent approximately £600 million on transfers during Boehly's reign, thanks in large part to the English manager's strong support during the January Transfer Window.

Even after spending £105 million on World Cup champion Enzo Fernandez and £88.5 million on Mykhailo Mudryk, Chelsea's Premier League standings didn't improve. If things continue to go against them, they might finish as low as 14th after the last day.

With Mauricio Pochettino taking over as manager, they will be expecting to restart things now. By completing the Nkunku trade, it appears that the former Tottenham Hotspur manager will begin his successful summer transfer campaign, which he will use to try to pull Chelsea back into the top-four race.
