Pochettino is considering acquiring Aleksandar Mitrovic for Chelsea.

With a move for the Fulham forward, Todd Boehly might improve Chelsea's forward options.

Todd Boehly is considering a summer transfer to Chelsea for Aleksandar Mitrovic of Fulham in order to improve Mauricio Pochettino's attacking options.

What's new with Aleksandar Mitrovic's transfer to Chelsea?
According to Chelsea blogger Simon Phillips on his Substack, the Blues are considering a potential summer move for Mitrovic.

The frontman, who makes £80k per week, still has three years left on his contract, and Fulham will expect compensation greater than the $22m Newcastle United paid for him in 2018.

Pochettino is in desperate need of a center forward with Premier League experience, and the Serbian may be the perfect choice to direct his offense in the upcoming season.

Will Mitrovic replace Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as an improvement?
To put it gently, Chelsea has had a terrible season. With just 37 league goals—the joint-fourth-lowest total in the top flight—they will finish last in the Premier League for the first time since 1993–94, and Pochettino will undoubtedly place a striker at the top of his wishlist.

Aubameyang was expected to lead Chelsea to the next level upon his arrival from Barcelona last summer and had scored 92 goals in four years for Arsenal, but the striker has only managed to score three goals for the Blues over 21 games.

The 33-year-old has only averaged 1.1 shots per game in his 15 league games while producing zero huge opportunities, only 0.2 successful dribble attempts per game, and only one goal, showing how ineffective he has been in front of goal and with the ball in his hands.

When compared to Mitrovic's numbers over the same time span, the Fulham striker would almost surely represent a significant improvement for the next campaign. He managed 3.9 shots per game, produced five significant scoring opportunities, was successful with one dribbling attempt each game, and scored 14 goals. Based on these statistics, he had a player rating of 7.15/10, placing him second among the Whites team's performers.

As he tied his own Premier League scoring record at the beginning of the year, the 28-year-old was branded "magic" by Statman Dave. Since then, he has increased this amount, and with one game remaining, he may surpass the 14 goals that are currently on his record, which would be a respectable total for someone who has just served a significant suspension.

With this in mind, Boehly must make a move for the former Newcastle player because his knowledge of the Premier League mixed with his present skills might provide the Blues 15-20 goals next season, which could lift them from mid-table mediocrity back into contention for the Champions League.
