Former Chelsea manager steps into position to challenge Blues for the leading position
The fans will gradually get used to the idea that Thomas Tuchel is no longer the manager of Chelsea, despite the fact that they still adore him and are sad to see him in Bayern Munich rather than in our dugout.
Tuchel has his sights set on a player that Chelsea had been interested in, claims well-connected German insider Florian Plettenberg. Dusan Vlahovic has endured a nightmare in Turin since joining Juventus, and despite their assurances that they want to keep him, it appears quite likely that they would sell him if they could get back what they spent for him 18 months ago.
Chelsea's task is far more challenging if Bayern is suddenly involved in the competition. Plettenberg asserts that the German club's decision-makers aren't persuaded, but our flamboyant former coach is.
Many Chelsea supporters believed that Vlahovic was overrated to begin with and were worried that we would bring in another high-priced striker from Serie A after the Romelu Lukaku debacle. So they will view this as another admirable deed from Tuchel, sniping our targets to stop this disastrous ownership from digging itself more into debt.
There is only so much we can do by eliminating players when we will ultimately still need a striker this summer. However, many supporters will be pleased to learn that there is now less of a chance of signing Vlahovic than there was previously.
