Fans attacked Gabby Agbonlahor after he described Chelsea standout Mason Mount as "an okay player."

Mount originally drew the attention of Chelsea supporters when he was on loan at Championship team Derby County and playing for Frank Lampard.

After Lampard took over at Stamford Bridge the next year, Mount found himself in the Chelsea first team.

He has since made 195 appearances for the Blues in all competitions, scoring 33 goals.

Agbonlahor, a former striker for Aston Villa, disagrees, believing that the player is only adequate for the team.

He stated on talkSPORT: "Come on, he's not spectacular is he? He's scored 27 goals in 129 outings.

"Let's be honest, his stats indicate that he is a passable player. Odegaard had 14 goals in a single season, so you think 27 goals is enough for an England international.

As the majority of people took issue with Agbonlahor's remarks, fans reacted swiftly on social media.

One responded: "Mount should not simply be evaluated on goal scoring. Unlike Agbonlahor, who barely had a better goal per game ratio than Mount has, he is not a striker.

According to another tweet, "To be fair, I think Mount's stats are decent for a midfielder."

"Better than 86 in 406 isn't it?" chimed in a third supporter. especially taking into account that one was a striker and the other a midfielder.

Another person commented: "Mount's goal scoring record as a midfield is better than Gabby's as a striker."

Another added: "How can a man who scored 65 goals in 350 games as a striker say something like that?!" It's completely absurd.

Mount has had difficulty securing a consistent berth in Chelsea's starting eleven this year, which has given rise to rumors that he would quit the team in the summer.
