The Argentine has been in contact with Chelsea executives for the previous two weeks and recently spent time in California with co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali.
The Athletic reports that sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley conducted a "comprehensive search" for a new manager, with a decision expected in the coming days.
By the end of the week, Pochettino will be officially announced, and Boehly is pleased with his selection.
But until the end of the season, Frank Lampard will continue to serve as interim manager.
