Chelsea manager reveals Chelsea defensive ace won't play vs Arsenal

Kalidou Koulibaly will not play for Chelsea against Arsenal, according to Frank Lampard.
Kalidou Koulibaly won't participate in Chelsea's Premier League match against Arsenal on Tuesday night, according to an update from Frank Lampard (h/t BBC).

Lampard has failed to win a game since taking over as temporary coach through the completion of the current campaign. However, he will be hoping that his squad can eke out a win against title contender Arsenal, dealing their rivals a severe blow.

Due to their present standing in the league in 12th place with 39 points, Chelsea's hopes of competing in the Champions League have been crushed. The best they can now hope for is a successful campaign finale.

On the defensive line, Koulibaly has remained average since coming from Napoli during the previous transfer window. In his early games for Chelsea, the 31-year-old was a heavy player who had trouble forming a defensive partnership with Thiago Silva.

Even though he has only played in 22 Premier League games, Chelsea is thinking about offloading a few fringe players in order to raise some cash for the upcoming campaign. A player who appeared to be world-class when playing in Serie A is given a poor evaluation.

Wesley Fofana, Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile, and Thiago Silva are all capable replacements for him in our defence, therefore he won't be missed. Players who haven't been in enough games this season need opportunities, and Badiashile should be one of them, according to Lampard.

Since the attacking line of Arsenal is strong, Lampard can opt to play Fofana, Silva, and Badiashile in a three-man defence. These defenders could play a significant role in preventing an Arsenal goal.

We can do a lot to reduce their prospects of winning the Premier League because they will be playing in a huge game. We will at the very least have made progress this season.
