Chelsea claims that bringing in a star for £35 million would be a "very foolish signing" for the club.
Before the transfer window reopens, Chelsea has been connected with a Bundesliga player.
Sadio Mane, a star player for Bayern Munich, would be one of Mauricio Pochettino's first acquisitions, but Paul Brown, a journalist, told GIVEMESPORT that Chelsea would be "foolish" to attempt such a move.
Though he won't replace interim manager Frank Lampard until the end of the current campaign, the Blues are expected to officially announce Pochettino's hiring as their next head coach in the coming days.
Football Insider claims that Chelsea intends to make a pitch in an effort to get Mane back to the Premier League.
According to the source, Pochettino wants to add the winger, who is anxious to get back to England, to the team he takes over in the summer.
After a trophy-laden tenure at Liverpool, Mane only joined six-time Champions League champions Bayern last year in a move for up to £35 million.
However, it seems that less than a year later, a move away from the Allianz Arena is in the works as he will likely be made available for transfer during the forthcoming window.
What was mentioned about Mane by Paul Brown?
Brown has advised Chelsea to resist the urge to provide Mane with a path back to the Premier League.
The reputable journalist believes that acquiring another high-paid man would be a mistake because the west Londoners are already well-stocked in the broad portions of the pitch.
Brown responded to GIVEMESPORT when asked if Chelsea should make a move for Mane: "I think it would be a very dumb thing to do.
"Chelsea have enough wingers to fill out three teams, let alone one," he said. "I think it's pretty ridiculous to add another one who is 31."
Given that circumstance, it would not be prudent for co-owner Todd Boehly to spend a lot of money on Mane in the near future.
