The next Blues manager praised the team's accomplishments under Roman Abramovich.

After recently confessing to "missing" football, Mauricio Pochettino is close to signing a contract to replace Antonio Conte as Chelsea's manager.

It will have been a year since the Argentine's departure from Paris Saint-Germain, a time he has called "a great experience, but tough," should his move to Stamford Bridge be completed in time for the new season.

The 51-year-old has been taking advantage of his time off with his family and doing some occasional punditry work, as he explained during the BBC's coverage of the World Cup, explaining his "need to process every single thing" regarding his brief PSG stint.

Real Madrid has been mentioned as a possible summer destination, but Los Blancos have not made a decision over Carlo Ancelotti's future, and Tottenham have not made an attempt for a move back to north London.

Football is timing, as Pochettino stated on Radio Marca in November of last year. These are the times when everything must line up for that marriage to take place. Sometimes, all it takes is time.

"I don't think trains pass through an area only once. I believe that sometimes it's vital to have the required patience and wait skills. It's true that my name has always been connected to powerful clubs, but football controls the 'time'.

"I have a great deal of respect for professionals, and selling myself is difficult for me. The excitement of day-to-day life contributes to the routine you develop while working. Missing it.

"Now what we do is get together, Zoom, have dinner with the family, and discuss the important discussions that we spark. It is overlooked. However, we also do things that are impossible for us to do when we are fighting a work war. Family time is really healing.

Pochettino, a former manager of Spurs and Southampton, expressed praise for the work done by former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in remarks from November 2018.

"In the last ten years, I think Chelsea have been so impressive with [Jose] Mourinho, [Antonio] Conte, and they won titles," the manager said.

On Maurizio Sarri’s side of that year, he added: “I am not surprised because Chelsea have an unbelievable squad and players. This summer they invested. They signed players, quality players and they added to the squad. But it's normal, they have one point more than us. It's not surprised me that they're doing very well.”

He continued, "I am not surprised because Chelsea have a wonderful squad and talent, therefore I am not on Maurizio Sarri's side of that year. They bought this summer. They added players to the roster, including top-notch players. They have one point more than we do, which is normal. The fact that they are doing so well doesn't surprise me.
