Transfer expert: "It will really be a good signing, Chelsea are missing him"
It will be a "really good signing" for Chelsea to acquire Christopher Nkunku, according to Simon Phillips.
The RB Leipzig attacker has already consented to join the Blues and will join the Premier League in July 2023, according to reliable transfer source Fabrizio Romano.
This will undoubtedly be a very intriguing transaction because Nkunku is well-known when he arrives in England. In fact, he has 164 appearances for his current team and 64 goals and 52 assists.
Chelsea could need the 25-year-old right now because they are currently scoring poorly, having only scored once in their past five games in all competitions.
However, until the end of the season, the Blues will have to make do with players like Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix.
And in his interview with Football FanCast, Phillips made the suggestion that Nkunku might replace Mudryk and offer a stronger alternative for the attack because of Mudryk's poor play and Felix's uncertain future as a loan player from Atletico Madrid.
But Nkunku, returning to him, is a very clean player, a very good player, the man remarked. He is capable of a variety of tasks.
"You know, he can manufacture goals and come up with objectives. And that is precisely what his current squad at Chelsea has been lacking.
And because he is still a young player, he will continue to improve and grow. And I really believe that this signing will turn out to be a great one.
"Perhaps, you know, he plays from more of a left side position on the field. There are uncertainties surrounding the £88 million purchase of Mudryk as well as Felix, who also prefers to operate in a related space.
