The president of Fluminense comments on reports that Thiago Silva will leave Chelsea

Despite holding a contract with Stamford Bridge through 2024, there were some whispers last week suggesting that Thiago Silva would return to Brazil sooner rather than later.

The rumours didn't really amount to anything, and no big media outlet really covered them, so they eventually died down.

Mario Bittencourt, the president of Fluminense, has since spoken about it and the possibility of Silva going back there.

Bittencourt acknowledges that little can be done at the moment because Silva has a contract with Chelsea that runs through 2024, but he doesn't exclude the possibility of Silva joining his team as soon as feasible.

What can I say today? Bittencourt was quoted as saying by Sport Witness today. He is under contract until 2024, and nothing is happening right now. Football-related events are undoubtedly dynamic. For instance, I mentioned that Marcelo was supposed to arrive in the middle of the year, but things changed and he cancelled it early. Because of the window, he could only visit in the middle of the year, so it is a dream, indeed.
