Romelu Lukaku's suspension was lifted after he was subjected to racial taunts.

The Italian Football Federation overturned Romelu Lukaku's one-match suspension in an effort to combat racism.

11 days ago, he was dismissed from the Coppa Italia semi-final after scoring a penalty and holding his finger to his lips in front of Juventus supporters.

His representatives said that it was in retaliation for being treated unfairly "before, during, and after the penalty."

I believe that justice has been served, Lukaku stated.

The ban was maintained by Italy's Sports Court of Appeal, but FIGC president Gabriele Gravina intervened after seeing the report from the Federal Prosecutor's Office.

The FIGC statement stated that the inquiry "clearly demonstrated that the behaviour of the player sanctioned by the match director followed the serious and repeated manifestations of hatred and racial discrimination by the opposing fans."

"The measure reaffirms that one of the guiding principles of the sporting system is the fight against all forms of racism."

The tie is now tied at 1-1, and Lukaku, who received a second yellow card for his outrageous celebration, is available to play in the second leg.

Gravina's action, according to Lukaku, sent a strong message to the entire sporting community and beyond.

This has demonstrated that there is a desire to combat racism.
