Mason Mount'sadly' announces his exit from Chelsea

This summer, there have been rumours that the Chelsea midfielder may leave Stamford Bridge.

Mason Mount, a midfielder for Chelsea,'sadly' announced his departure from Twitter because he believes 'the platform is evolving,' and he invited supporters to follow him on other social networking sites.

He has had a difficult season with a Blues team that is currently 11th in the Premier League, despite winning Chelsea player of the year honours the previous two seasons.

Chelsea lost 4-0 to Real Madrid over two legs in the Champions League quarterfinals, eliminating them from all cup competitions in the process.

Mount, whose contract at Stamford Bridge will soon reach its final year, has been heavily connected to moves away from the team.

Some fans believe Mount deleted his Twitter account to prevent potential outrage if he left the club for a Premier League opponent, and Liverpool appear to be the team leading the pursuit for the England international.

Others believe it is a symbol of how "toxic" and "vile" some aspects of the platform have grown to be.

"Over the years, I've thoroughly enjoyed connecting with all of you on Twitter," the midfielder declared.

I have decided to remove my account because the platform is changing. I'm still accessible to you all on my other social media channels. Mason, take care.

Following Twitter's decision to start removing blue verified checkmarks from accounts that refused to subscribe to Twitter Blue, Mount made his proclamation.

This season, Mount has only scored three goals for Chelsea in all competitions, and his future with the team is becoming less assured.

According to several sources, the midfielder is Jurgen Klopp's top priority as the Reds look to rebuild their midfield this summer.

Chelsea's Premier League match against Manchester United this weekend was postponed owing to the Red Devils' participation in the FA Cup semifinals. Chelsea will instead play Brentford on Wednesday night.
