Mason Mount, a midfielder for Chelsea, deletes his Twitter account and cryptically claims that he did so because "the platform changing" in a negative way. The 24-year-old midfielder appears to be on his way out of Stamford Bridge amid Liverpool interest.

Due to his team's lackluster performances this year, the 24-year-old has come under increased pressure and has been heavily connected with leaving the club.

Despite a decline in form, he has only scored three goals this season despite being voted Chelsea player of the year in 2020/1 and 2021/2.

After a rocky start to the season, the Blues have suffered as a result, falling to 11th in the Premier League rankings.

Since Real Madrid eliminated them from the Champions League on Tuesday, Frank Lampard's team will have little to play for the remainder of the year.

The midfielder declared in a slightly mysterious Tweet: "Over the years I've thoroughly enjoyed connecting with you all on Twitter."

I've opted to remove my account because, regrettably, the platform is changing. I'm still accessible to you all on my other social media channels. Mason, take care.

On Twitter, the Tweet sparked a lot of rumors, with some people seeing it as a sign that Mount may soon leave the club.

Others said it was'sad' and evidence of how 'vile' the platform had grown, especially after Tottenham fullback Pedro Porro deleted his social media accounts after making an error in his team's defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend.

Although the midfielder's reasons for leaving Twitter are yet unknown, a transfer to Anfield does seem likely this summer.

Ryan Gravenberch of Bayern Munich has recently piqued the interest of the Reds, but Sportsmail knows that Mount is also a top target for Jurgen Klopp.

The England international has also been linked with Newcastle, but they are unwilling to alter their current salary structure in order to attract new players, which would deter stars like Mount.

Chelsea's next game is against Brentford on Wednesday, and when they play Arsenal the following Tuesday, they might have a say in the title fight.
