Frank Lampard apologises in response to recent criticism from the Chelsea legend

Didier Drogba, a former Chelsea striker, had earlier declared he no longer acknowledges his club. Frank Lampard responded to the statement by the legendary forward.

Todd Boehly aims to change Chelsea into a different team after spending £300 million on players like Enzo Fernandez, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Benoit Badiashile and another £200 million on new players in the summer.

The team has also fired two managers within the same season, and these additions have somewhat aided in producing positive results. Frank Lampard has also been named as the team's interim coach.

The American billionaire chose Frank Lampard as the interim manager till the end of the current season since it appears the owner wants more time to choose the best manager to lighten the load.

It has been the first time since 1993 that Chelsea has lost four straight games, but Lampard's hiring has not been successful as he has lost his first four games.

They still have seven games to play even though their season is technically over because they are now ranked in the bottom half of the standings.

However, (h/t Mirror), following the 2-0 loss to Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals, the former midfielder was questioned about the opinions of his former teammate Drogba, and Lampard stated:"

Sorry, they are Didier's comments.

Chelsea supporters confronted Todd Boehly during the Blues vs. Brighton & Hove Albion match.

The way Chelsea is being run under the new owner is undoubtedly not to Drogba's liking. Roman Abramovich developed the practise of axing managers as soon as performances started to deteriorate while he was a player for Chelsea, especially when he was paired with Lampard (what a combo they were!).

Even though it's not always the best course of action, Abramovich generally made the proper personnel decisions, at least on paper. Boehly has primarily signed young players because he wants to carry out his own ideas and develop long-term initiatives with them.

And Lampard, who has been appointed Chelsea's interim manager, is undoubtedly not eager to get involved in this verbal altercation since he wants to end his time there on a high note. Furthermore, he had a tight relationship with the Ivorian off the pitch that he shared and likely still does. Therefore, he would understand that Drogba was more critical of the ownership than he was.
