Chelsea promises to settle the player's debt before the player moves in the summer.

Rafeal Leao left Sporting on his own will and joined Lille in 2018, leaving Sporting with a debt.

According to Football Italia, Chelsea has spoken with Rafael Leao about a prospective transfer and has even promised to settle the €20 million that the Portuguese winger owes Sporting Lisbon if he joins them at Stamford Bridge this summer.

They also suggest that Sporting president Frederico Varandas visited London this week for meetings, perhaps regarding other players and this convoluted legal scenario in which Leao owes Sporting money after making the decision to depart on his own will and join Lille in 2018.

However, we have a very low level of confidence in this entire report. Chelsea is utterly overrun with players, particularly in the attacking positions, so adding Leao before they've changed two or three of their current alternatives would be insane.
Once more, it appears more plausible that agents are utilising our possible interest to secure a better deal for their clients in Milan, a negotiation that appeared to be moving very nicely during the previous few months.
