After Chelsea players forced the club to re-hire fired physio Bungling, Todd Boehly was once again humiliated. Jose Calvarro, a renowned physio, has returned to Chelsea in a restricted capacity after being let go at the beginning of the season.

The rehiring of a physiotherapist that the Blues fired just a few months prior has caused fresh humiliation for Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly.

Jose Calvarro was fired from Stamford Bridge in September after six years there as new owners Boehly and Clearlake Capital cleared the way for a fresh era. Along with the respected Spaniard, Thierry Laurent and Paco Biosca, two longtime medical administrators, left.

Calvarro joined Italian team Como, whose president is Chelsea icon Dennis Wise and whose player is a former Chelsea and Arsenal player named Cesc Fabregas.

However, it was reported that Blues players were dissatisfied with Calvarro's departure, with some believing the turmoil caused a wave of injuries prior to the World Cup. The Blues have only been able to retain Calvarro as a consultant for one day each week, working with the team every Sunday, due to his contract with Serie B Como.

Graham Potter, the manager at the time, stated back in October after the medical department underwent significant changes: "Clearly, we want to always try to improve, and that's an area we can probably improve."

It turned out to be a mistake, though, and the Blues decided to bring Calvarro back—albeit in a limited role.

Rehiring him again would be a step backward and a source of more embarrassment for the US-led ownership group, who have spent more than £600 million in the past year but are still struggling in the bottom half of the Premier League standings.

The club's sixth consecutive loss at home against Brentford this past week was their worst run in thirty years.

Following Potter's dismissal, club legend Frank Lampard was unable to stop the rot, and more changes are anticipated once Mauricio Pochettino, the former manager of Tottenham, is named as Potter's permanent replacement.

The Blues' next match is a Tuesday trip to top-of-the-table Arsenal.
