Mauricio Pochettino, the head coach of Chelsea, reportedly chose to maintain Kepa Arrizabalaga as his first-choice custodian.

Since the Argentine's appointment as Chelsea's new manager was formally revealed, it has become evident that a change in goaltending is a possibility.

In 2022–23, Arrizabalaga had a better season, allowing just 33 goals in 29 games while playing for Chelsea, who only finished the league season in 12th place.

However, it has been widely rumoured that Edouard Mendy and the £71.6 million addition from 2018 may be let to leave Stamford Bridge.

As a result, Chelsea has been connected to several players from throughout Europe, including Andre Onana of Inter Milan and Mike Maignan of AC Milan.

It was alleged over the weekend that the former and Chelsea had already reached a personal agreement before the two teams began discussing a fee.

Nevertheless, Sky Sports News reports that Pochettino would rather concentrate on strengthening other parts of the team despite that claimed development.

The West Londoners have a big rebuilding work ahead of them as they look to let go of a variety of players, maybe numbering in the double digits, in order to stay on the right side of FFP.

In addition, Pochettino wants to be able to bolster his team. Given the anticipated departures of N'Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic, as well as the team's dearth of goals in the previous campaign, central midfield and attack are believed to be priorities.

That appears to be what prompted Pochettino to decide to hold off on changing his goalkeeping options unless Mendy receives a significant offer in the upcoming months.

The Senegal international, who has fallen down the pecking order and is opposed to signing a new contract, is reportedly eager to be sold by Chelsea's leadership.

Arrizabalaga has two years left on his contract, but it will be decided that retaining him at the team makes sense because realistic offers are unlikely to be made for the 28-year-old's services.

He has made a total of 163 appearances for Chelsea across all leagues, recording 35 clean sheets in 109 Premier League games.
