In light of Tottenham's precedent, Jose Mourinho's preferred team Chelsea sends Mauricio Pochettino's honest assessment.
Mauricio Pochettino is a well-liked manager, and many players, coaches, and commentators have praised him.

Nemanja Matic has approved Todd Boehly's appointment of Mauricio Pochettino as the new Chelsea manager. The 51-year-old has frequently been mentioned in connection with taking over for Frank Lampard at the end of the current campaign, and he has most recently emerged as the favourite to do so.

According to football.london, Todd Boehly is hoping to name a permanent head coach at the conclusion of the current campaign after the Blues and Pochettino have had "very positive talks" thus far. Although the residents of west London and the former manager of Tottenham have not yet reached an agreement, both parties are optimistic that a deal can be reached.

Both Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique had previously been strongly connected to the opening at Stamford Bridge, but both have subsequently withdrawn, leaving Pochettino in the clear. If Boehly had any doubts about the Argentinian's suitability for the position for any reason, Matic's raving endorsement should put those doubts to rest.

The former Chelsea player briefly discussed Pochettino's qualities as a "great" manager in an interview with Sky Sports. He's a fantastic manager, remarked the 34-year-old.

"He demonstrated that he can play some great football at Spurs and PSG. Why not? He has expertise, and I am aware of his high standards of professionalism and integrity.

Jurgen Klopp also gave Pochettino a favourable review earlier this month. The German argued that Spurs are still just as good as they were when they faced off in the 2019 Champions League final, ahead of Liverpool's matchup against Tottenham on Sunday afternoon.

Liverpool triumphed against Tottenham courtesy to goals from Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi in the match between Pochettino and Klopp in Madrid. The Reds manager remarked, as reported by the Mirror: "This is a season when a lot of things were difficult for a lot of teams.

"While it's not cool for us, it lets other teams in. Small errors made throughout a season can have a big impact. The team that Tottenham has is still very good.

I have no idea why it didn't work out for them. For many years, they were Europe's top counterattacking squad. They should be really good, I anticipate.
