In his post-game remarks, Todd Boehly says the Chelsea team's season has been "embarrassing."

After their Saturday loss to Brighton, the co-owner went to the locker room to encourage the players before of their match against Real Madrid.

Todd Boehly sought to motivate Chelsea's players ahead of Tuesday's Champions League match against Real Madrid by making a "embarrassing" speech in the team's locker room following the club's defeat by Brighton on Saturday.

After Chelsea suffered their third straight loss, the co-owner addressed the team alongside his other board members Hansjörg Wyss and Behdad Eghbali.

After waiting for Lampard to complete speaking with the players after spending over £600 million on acquisitions since acquiring the club last summer, Boehly—who had been accosted by fans during the Brighton game—stepped up to make it clear that the leadership expected much more.

Boehly, Eghbali, and Wyss weren't spotted leaving the locker room for about an hour, and while it's common for owners to interact with players, a source thought "the whole thing was weird" when they finally did.

According to reports, a senior player who had recently been signed for a sizable sum received harsh criticism.

This player, whose identity is being withheld, is thought to be frustrated by the circumstances and cut a grumpy figure at training before Chelsea attempts to recover a 2-0 deficit from the first leg versus Madrid.

Boehly expressed his unhappiness with the team's performance, but his main goal was to inspire the players ahead of the season's pivotal match.

He claimed that Chelsea, who are now 11th in the Premier League and in danger of missing out on qualifying for Europe, had a chance to save the season in the match against Real Madrid.

Since Roman Abramovich sold the club to Boehly and Clearlake Capital last year, Chelsea has struggled. Although they spent a lot on transfers, their investment on the pitch has not yielded much.

Chelsea lost both domestic cup matches, and the choice to appoint Graham Potter as manager after Thomas Tuchel was ousted in September of last year went horribly wrong. Potter held the position for seven months before being let go, and Chelsea has subsequently appointed Lampard as acting manager.

It is thought that Chelsea's financial situation has become concerning as a result of the dismal results. Financial Fair Play is a worry, as rumours claim that practically every player will be for sale this summer.

Mason Mount's contract expires at the end of the upcoming season, thus Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to sign him. Mount has not indicated that he will renew his contract.

Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Levi Colwill, and Callum Hudson-Odoi are some other academy players that might go.

Selling them would result in pure financial gain. Chelsea and RB Leipzig have reached an agreement for the forward from France, Christopher Nkunku.

When he predicted that Chelsea would defeat Madrid 3-0 at the Bernabéu last week, Boehly also made headlines. That prediction was completely disproven by Carlo Ancelotti's team due to goals from Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio.

Ben Chilwell was dismissed from the game for Chelsea, and Kalidou Koulibaly sustained a hamstring injury that will keep the center-back out for a few weeks.
