Fantastic record: Lampard suggests a Chelsea exile might come back

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may come back to aid Chelsea with their goal-scoring issues, according to Frank Lampard.

Following his exile at Chelsea under Graham Potter, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may start for Chelsea against Brighton, according to Frank Lampard.

The temporary manager has assured his team, even those who played for him when he last led the team before being fired in 2021, that he will offer them a clean slate to impress.

Under three different managers, the Blues have gone four games without scoring, their longest such streak since December 1993.

Aubameyang, who has over 300 career objectives, might be able to help stop the dry spell, but he dropped out of the starting lineup. Graham Potter and was not even listed in the team the club fielded for the Champions League.

The attacker might get his first start since early January on Saturday at Stamford Bridge after making his first appearance in six weeks under Lampard away at Wolves.

In his pre-game press conference, Lampard said, "The players have to feel when they train, when they show up for training, and how they prepare, the competitive nature in the squad to get a place in the team needs to be high in every position."

"Auba is much like everyone in the group, starting early or not so early, everyone needs to compete in training and demonstrate they are deserving of their place.

"His goal-scoring record is exceptional, according to history. We'll see, then.

Despite the temporary nature of his position, Lampard is eager to renew the link with the fans as he will manage Chelsea on home soil for the first time this weekend during his tenure as interim manager.

I'm happy to be back, he remarked. The honor of serving as a manager or head coach in whatever position never fails to impress.

I previously did it for a season and a half and absolutely adored every second of it. I'm glad to be here again. I've worked at Stamford Bridge in some capacity for a long time, but my overarching impression is one of focus on the task at hand and striving for success.
